Food Photography

LEMONADE
I don't have a lot of clear glasses at home so I used this glass candle-holder to keep the lemondae in. And I put broken ice in the background.

CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKE
Since I couldn't find any milk to make the milkshake, I used heavy cream. The heavy cream caused the chocolate syrup to stay on top.

APPLE MARTINI
Ok, so this wasn't originally an apple martini, it was just coca cola. And then I edited it to look like a martini. Then I the dodge tool to make the frost around the galss.

FRIES
I just pan fried frozen fries, and I used natural sunlight for the lighting.

PASTA
I made this pasta with the basic ingrdients: Chinese flat pasta and store bought past sauce. I used hot sauce to make the pattern around the pasta.

CHOCOLATE CAKE
This is the picture of my birthday cke so it was special to me. And I really like how the zoomed in picture came out. With the 2/3 rule applied to the cherry.

Dyptichs

"FREEZE!!!!!"
For this action-reaction set i portrayed someone reflecting light on himself. In the first picture Marvin was holding a flash light, where in the second picture he was cringing against the light coming from the first picture.

"RELECTION"
In this dyptich set i wanted to show how an artist mind views the world or himself or herself. By holding the palette Al is presenting himself an artist. The second picture represents how the artist (Al) views himself in the mirror.
"Relationships"
I wanted to show the regular ups and downs of a relationship, where the guy is trying to make up with his girlfriend. Josh and Gina are portraying the boyfriend and girlfriend here. This set shows how no relationship is perfect but we shouldn't give up.

Then and Now

THEN

NOW

Surrealist Artists

Vladimir Kush
Age 46 (29 March, 1965)
Born in Moscow
He began drawing at the age of three or four. With the encouragement from his dad he started attending art school in Russia at the age of seven. He served 2 yrs in the Russian army at 18. He was commissioned to draw propagandistic posters. He was influenced by Monet, Botticelli, Bosch, Van Gogh, Durer, Schinkel, Vermeer and Dali.
He owns 4 art galleries in the U.S., 1 in Lahaina, Hawaii, 1 in Laguna Beach, CA and 2 in LA. He draws a lot of insects, dragon flies, leaves and flowers.
"What the fish was silent about"
by Vladimir Kush
Description: A fish made of gold coins in the water. Next to the fish is a partially buried jar that's spilling coins onto the ocean (sea?) floor. The painting consists of a lot of golden shodows and tints, with a little green, and brown.
Analysis: The realism of the painting comes fromthe texture, shadows and tints of the paint. Also the watery light on the sand and the coins makes the painting pop out more.
Interpretation: In my view the meaning of this painting is about secrets, what we all keep hiden within ourselves. Fish symbolize ideas, ideals, and point of view. The motion of the water reflection symbolize changing or flowing feelings.
Judgement: This peice is successful in my opinion, because of  the deep meaning of the fish made of coins.

JERRY UELSMANN
"To me, the is a license to explore."

Age 76 (June 11, 1934)
Born in Detroit, Michigan

His interests in photography bloomed in high school. He primarily shot picuters at weddings. He then got a BA from the Rochester Institute of Technology and MS and MFA degrees from Indiana University.
Description: This a balck and white photo with a man waist down in water, a boat floating in the air, all the while clouds forming a butterfly around the boat.
Analysis: The symmetrical background causes the clouds around the middle to form a butterfly around the boat. The background landscape was first vertically reflected andthen the man and boat were add to the photo.
Interpretation: The man in the water (to me) means to follow your own path and beliefs no matter what's blocking your way. The boat could symbolize a dream or goal.
Judgement: This photo was successful beacuse of the contrasting black and white colors. The symmetrical background gives this peice a abstract feeling.
